About Me

My Name is Jawa, but you can call me Mike

I am proud to be a member of the Karen Hill Tribe, deeply connected to my heritage. Born and raised in Mae Jok, a small village just north of Chiang Mai near the Myanmar border, I grew up as the son of rice farmers. When I turned 19, I had the opportunity to pursue a university degree in Tourism, made possible by foreign support. This experience allowed me to realize my childhood dream of becoming a tour guide.

I am passionate about sharing the beauty of my home village, the lush jungle surrounding it, and the rich culture of my hill tribe. And let’s not forget the incredible food! For the past seven years, I’ve had the privilege of guiding visitors from around the world through pristine jungles, stunning waterfalls, and traditional villages.

Some of my fondest childhood memories include trekking through the vibrant forests and rafting down serene rivers on handmade rafts. I am thrilled to share these experiences with you, hoping they become cherished memories in your own journey. My goal is to provide a safe, authentic adventure for every guest, continuously improving the experience based on your feedback.

I can offer you an authentic and ethical trekking experience. I’ll introduce you to my friends and family and share stories about my upbringing and the local area. I am committed to ensuring that the money you spend on your tour directly benefits the local community, supporting our traditions and livelihoods. Join me for an enriching journey that connects you to the heart of Karen culture!

I look forward to meeting you soon!
